How to Install Corrapol-BT Corrugated Roof Fixings

One of the key benefits of installing corrugated roofing sheets is how easy they are to install. Installing Awnapol Premium Corrugated Bitumen Sheets and Corrapol-BT Corrugated Bitumen sheets is a simple project even for those with just a little DIY experience.

Installation of the Corrapol-BT Corrugated Roof Fixings is a key step in the process and so it is important to fully understand the correct way to install these to ensure your corrugated roof has maximum durability. Incorrectly installed corrugated roof fixings can be the cause of a lot of issues that creep in later in a roof’s lifespan, including leaks and insecure sheets so it is worth following the correct installation process.

At Clear Amber, we manufacture two main types of corrugated roof sheet fixings; Corrapol-BT Flexi Cap Screws and the Corrapol-BT Roof Sheet Nails. These both require a slightly different installation process, however, both types of Corrapol roof sheet fixing can be used with our Awnapol Premium Corrugated Sheets or Corrapol®-BT Corrugated Sheets.

As with our other corrugated flashings and fixings, like the Corrapol-BT Rock N Lock, our corrugated roof sheet fixings are available in the four Corrapol-BT colours including Black, Brown, Green and Red!

Which is the best corrugated roof fixing option?

    Corrapol BT Roof Fixing Nail

Pros - Budget Friendly, Simple to install

Cons - Shorter Lifespan, Not as Waterproof, Rigid Head

    Corrapol-BT Flex Cap Screw

Pros - Flexi Head, Quality, Long Lasting, Stronger Fix, Easy to remove and re-tighten

    Cons -Premium, Requires a Drill

In summary, the Corrapol-BT Flexi Screw Cap Fixings are the best corrugated roof fixing option for most roofing projects due to their longer lifespan, stronger fixing type, and superior waterproofing. In some cases, the Corrapol-BT Roof Sheet Nails may be beneficial for shorter lifespan applications as a more budget option.

When using Awnapol Premium Corrugated sheets we would definitely recommend only using the Corrapol-BT Flexi Screw Cap fixings as a superior corrugated sheet deserves a superior sheet fixing!

How to install Corrapol-BT Roof Fixings

    Equipment required:
    - Drill
    - Rubber Mallet
    - Corrapol-BT Eaves Fillers
    - String line (optional)

How to install Corrapol-BT Roof Fixings- Steps:

    1. Safety First – Always wear the correct PPE equipment

    2. Install your Corrapol Eaves Fillers on each purlin. These are recommended on every roof purlin across the roof (Top Tip: Simply pin the eaves fillers onto your frame to fold them in place during installation)

    3. Using your string line, line up against each purlin and mark the fixing points on your sheets. This helps keep your fixing lines running parallel!

    4. Install your first Corrapol Rock N Lock Gable Flashing (or Wall Flashing if against a wall) before you start fixing your corrugated bitumen sheets down. This helps keeps the sheets running straight across and is easiest done before your sheets are secure. Leave the Rock n Lock on the opposite end uninstalled for now.

    5. Starting at the end where your Rock N Lock is installed fix the sheets, in turn, moving across the roof. Depending on the corrugated roof fixing you are using either:
    i. Use a Drill to secure the Flexi Cap Screws. Pop the flexi caps shut once done.
ii. Use a Rubber Mallet to secure the Roof Sheet Nails. Be careful not to overdrive the nails.

    6. When you reach the last sheet in your run measure the remaining space and trim the last sheet widthways to allow for the final overlap and the Rock N Lock Flashing space. Follow the How to cut Corrugated Bitumen Sheet Guide for the correct cutting method.

Other Corrapol-BT Corrugated Roof Fixing Questions:

How many fixings per corrugated sheet?
Each Awnapol and Corrapol-BT Sheet has 10 corrugation peaks across the width which makes it easy to calculate how many fixings you will need. We suggest that a roof sheet fixing is installed every corrugation peak at the top and bottom of your roof and every second corrugation peak for intermediate purlins.

How many you require is always up to the discretion of the installer as it depends on many factors including roof pitch, the location, the exposure of the roof etc. However, we would suggest a minimum of twenty Corrapol® -BT fixings per sheet.

Remember to last the test of time your roof will need to stand up to wind uplift and snow loading etc so it is always better to have too many fixings rather than too few!

Where do screws go on a corrugated roof?
Corrugated roof fixings should always be fixed through the peaks of the sheet, not through the troughs! This is very important as the water mainly drains via the troughs so fixing there can cause leaks and moisture issues on your structure below.

Is it the same method for fixing Corrapol Stormproof and PVC corrugated sheets?
Clear Corrugated Roof Sheet fixings are similar to Corrapol-BT Flexi Cap Screw fixings; however, the installation method varies so please refer to our Corrapol Installation Guide for full details.

Our Corrapol Stormproof, Corrapol PVC and Corrapol GRP Sheets can be installed alongside our corrugated bitumen ranges to create a vision panel in a bitumen roof or a rooflight!
